One of the most anticipated games of the year has been Borderlands 2, with trailers, news and excitement hitting many fans of the game as they have been released. Thankfully, E3 had a playable demo of the game, and a lengthy one at that. Giving players about fifteen minutes of mayhem, the game is already living up to the hype, with enemies and guns galore, and all the wonderful ridiculousness that made the first game so memorable.
There were two options for the playthrough, and this time, Salvador was the pick. As part of the new Gunzerker class, Salvador can use his action skill to dual wield any weapons (hint: spingun and double barrel shotgun is an awesome combination), allowing for a brief period where enemies stand little chance.
The game looked crisp and clear, with the signature Borderlands art style. The Caustic Canyon level that was previewed was full of acid, large, crystal filled enemies, and massive flying bugs that were challenging, but not overwhelming. The game stepped it up in the looks department without losing the unique style that made its predecessor so great, and the newer enemies looking as awesome as ever.
This game has everything fans were looking for: fun new enemies and areas, a great visual style, and new characters and classes to have fun with. Borderlands 2 is everything it has been hyped up to be and more, and there’s so much left to take in. This game is already looking like a game of the year candidate, and September 18th, when the game releases for PC, Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, can’t come soon enough.
