E3 Hands-On Preview: Far Cry 3
Posted on June 7, 2012 AT 07:43pm
Far Cry 3 looked amazing during the Ubisoft press conference during E3, and thankfully, it was available to play during the show, as well. With a pretty lengthy single-player mission available, Far Cry 3 gave players a good taste of what’s to come from the game.
First off, the graphics are amazing, down to the very last texture. Everything is crisp and clear and looks beautiful. The jungle landscape was a perfect place to try out, with plenty of cover to hide out in, and plenty of people to shoot. Being in a first person perspective was great, and the aiming on the weapons was precise, if not a bit touchy.
The ability to do take-downs, a killer move animation that completely destroys your enemies, was a great part of the game, especially when it can be done in several different ways, including under water. Enemies are smart enough to be a challenge, but not too tough, and the game does a great job of keeping the player interested with its theme of madness, especially during expository cut-scenes.
The game looked to be as close to finished as a game can be a few months before release, and if there is anything left to improve on, Ubisoft hid it well.
Far Cry 3 is looking like it’s going to be a major hit, so be sure to pick it up when it hits shelves for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in September.
