Mobile and app based gaming is fast becoming one of the biggest industries in the gaming market, with many gamers more likely to take five minutes here and there, than spend hours sitting down and getting into a full-length game. A short time period isn’t exactly what most people think about when they hear about tower defense games, but Fieldrunners 2 is about to set out to prove everyone wrong, lets take a quick look of the game from E3.
While it still has many of the elements of a traditional tower defense game, it also has many elements that are more unique to the genre. Many games of this type basically give you the options of placing towers on the edges, funneling enemies in and destroying them, as well as…actually, that’s about it. Fieldrunners 2, however, adds a bit of strategy to the game, giving players the option to create mazes for their foes to go through, pushing them through a labyrinth of destruction until they fall.
The artwork is also stunning, with some of the most detailed character work to ever hit a game on mobile platforms. The colors are vibrant and easy to identify, with enemies and towers popping out and generating their own style, even in a miniature form.
The game was very smooth, even in an early build, and ran at a high pace on the iPad. With the game also coming with several modes, towers and special weapons, Fieldrunners 2 is ready to take tower defense by storm when it hits the iPad and iOS later in the year.
