E3 Hands-On Preview: Madden NFL ’13
Posted on June 7, 2012 AT 07:57pm
Over the last several years, the Madden franchise has gone through some tough times recently, especially when it comes to innovation in the game. The team over at EA Sports is attempting to fix that this year, with Madden NFL ’13. EA was kind enough to give fans of the yearly sports game a look at an early, unfinished build of the game to test out some of the easier points of the title.
From the playable demo, nothing, aside from cosmetic upgrades, seemed any different. Only playing in exhibition mode was fun, but was nothing out of the ordinary. With the unfinished build, as well, many of the graphics while playing were blurry or grainy, until the in between play animations were triggered.
Though it’s no different, judging by the demo, its still very fun, for those who are sports fans. The tackling animations and collisions are one of the major improvements, allowing runners to slide and roll off tacklers, even when down, to fight until the last minute for every last yard.
With the improvements the game is promising, if they follow through, this will be a very different Madden in comparison to last year, which is something of a surprise. Though, judging from the demo, they have barely even scratched the surface, as far as improvements. Let’s hope they put the finishing touches on soon, as it’s slated for a late August release on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
