Endless Space Available Now

Posted on July 5, 2012 AT 10:03am

4X strategy fans have certainly had a good haul these last few years: Civilization 5 and its new Gods and Kings expansion, Total War: Shogun 2, Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, and now Endless Space can be added to that list. As of yesterday, the 4X space strategy game is available on PC for fans of the genre to explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate their enemies as one of eight unique civilizations. Endless Space has been in a beta stage for the last several weeks on steam, seeing over 20,000 fans registered as playing the game and giving feedback on its design through the program, GAMES2GETHER.

For those like me who had never heard of the platform before, GAMES2GETHER is a program that lets the community track the development team’s objectives, progress, and achievements, all while gaining access to early builds, providing feedback, and discussing the game’s future with the developers themselves. In this case the platform gave fans an active role in the future of Endless Space. Personally I can’t wait to get my hands on a game that will hopefully compete with Sins of a Solar Empire, there hasn’t been a good space strategy game like it in a while and I love the idea of a little competition and variation in the genre.

Endless Space is available now for download on PC at $29.99 from Iceberg Interactive and  Amplitude Studios. Unfortunately, the game currently lacks a demo which is a shame since that would only help its sales. I want this game to succeed, this is a genre that is hard to get into at times but is infinitely rewarding and it will only benefit by adding some competition to the mix.
