Developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment has just released a new trailer for their upcoming game, Natural Selection 2. The Exosuit featured in the trailer represents the best equipment that the marine class can equip, and it allows the marines to efficiently punch aliens in the face. Because that’s exactly how you should deal with hostile aliens.
Natural Selection 2 sits in a very unique place in the gaming world because it combines two exciting genres: RTS and FPS. One player takes on the role of a commander, giving orders to the ground troops and building structures (just like any other RTS). The twist is that the ground troops might not follow orders, since they are controlled by the other players!
Natural Selection has come a long way since it began its existence as a mod for Half-Life. It’s been in development since 2006, and it’s taken this long because the development team is made up of just a few guys. They also decided to develop their own custom game engine, so that delayed the release even further. Right now the game is in beta testing, but as of yet there is no word on the release date.
Pre-orders for Natural Selection 2 will be available on Steam starting September 4, but if you want instant beta action, then you’ll need to pre-order on http://www.naturalselection2.com/, since instant beta access will end on September 4.
