And it’ll be a while before they come to America, if at all.
The Nintendo 3DS XL (technically, 3DS LL in Japan) has had a unique color scheme across the globe. America received red and blue (with black as a base) colors, while Japan swapped out silver in place of the blue. Since then, new colors have come out (including one I really want to come to America, white and pink).
ANN reports that four new sets are coming to Japan. Available at the regular price point outside of a bundle is an all-black model. Honestly, this design has a good chance at coming to America.
Bundled with Animal Crossing: Jump Out, an all-white (with designs) bundle will be released on November 8th. Likewise, a black and red (with designs) 3DS LL bundled with New Super Mario Bros. 2 on November 15th. Both bundles will retail for about $291. Additionally, the all-black iteration will be available for around $278, bundled with Monster Hunter 3 G.
Given history, expect Nintendo to release some sort of new bundled colors this fall around Christmas-time. Previous years have lead to a Zelda-themed 3DS, so Nintendo of America hasn’t completely stayed away from game-themed consoles.
