GameCity7 is only a few months away and today the team behind it launched OpenGameCity. A platform that gives anyone the opportunity to be a part of this great games festival. Originally launched in 2010, OpenGameCity allows creative individuals a way to share and promote their games. It’s not just limited to games though, past events have included; internet speed dating, laser tripwire obstacle courses, theremin concerts, street theatre, performance art and much more. OpenGameCity offers anyone with an interesting idea, project, or event the chance to help shape the festival, plus the opportunity to enjoy a host of other great content and the creative minds behind it all. GameCity is a video game festival based in Nottingham, England. The event brings together some of the best minds in the industry to share their thoughts on the medium of video games. Past attendees have included Jonathan Blow (Braid), Richard Lemarchand (formerly of Naughty Dog), and Keita Takahashi (Game Director, Katamari Damacy). In addition to a myriad of game studios including; Crytek UK, Media Molecule, TT Games and Harmonix, just to name a few.
The festival began in 2006 and has been growing every year since then. GameCity7 is scheduled to begin on the 20th of October and run all week until the 27th. The guests and schedule are yet to be announced, however Peter Molyneux has already been confirmed to be attending and will be taking over a whole day of the festival. GameCity describe the event as ‘a series of events to celebrate and explore his time in the industry, from past and future projects to inspirations outside of games; films, music, art, literature, food and more.’
