Gaming on a Budget #5 – July 26th 2012

Posted on July 26, 2012 AT 04:15am

Welcome to the weekly series of Gaming on a Budget. While video game prices are on the rise, there are plenty of great games, great deals, and great steals for those who don’t mind playing games after they have been out for a while. My objective in this article is not necessarily to review games, but introduce you to lesser known games, websites, and deals that may be hard to find. I help you get through the week with upcoming weekend sales, free play weekends, and a recap of games you should always have ready to play.

FREE TO PLAY- Spelunky- This platformer is not your average platformer. Get your mind out of the gutter because Spelunky comes from the name Caving, which is the recreational exploring of cave systems. With plenty of secrets, changing envorinments, and easy to difficult areas, this challenge is hard but rewarding when you complete it! Get this great game at the Mossmouth Website right now.
FRANCHISE DEAL- No Franchise Deal This Week

INDIE SPOTLIGHT- Time Gentleman, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! Special Edition- Along with a very long name, comes a pretty decent grade from PC Gamer, PC Zone, and Metacritic. This point and click adventure game allows you to sit back, relax, solve problems, and enjoy the cheap jokes. The final objective is to stop Hitler and his army of robot Nazi dinosaurs. Yes, NAZI DINOSAURS! So why wait, it’s only $4.99, so pick it up on Steam and have fun!

KEN’S SPOTLIGHT- Day of Defeat- Yes this game is almost ten years old, but who gives a damn when the game is just so amazing. This Axis vs. Allie WWII game took the back seat to most modern day WWII games including Battlefield 1942 and Call of Duty, but when you assume the role of a specific person, whether it’s a sniper, infantry, or gunner, it’s a must to work together with these different classes to win! You can pick this game up for $4.99 on Steam Steam and is probably one of my favorite Valve games ever!
