Gaming Under the Influence #2 ~ July 12th 2012

Posted on July 12, 2012 AT 04:21am

BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!  Starting next week, this will be a VIDEO SHOW!  Get your beers ready!

One thing a lot of the adults have learned is that when you grew up, your Mountain Dew’s and Bawls Energy Drinks have turned into beer and Jack & Coke’s. A lot of us still play the party games, but things have progressed from the days of Mario Kart on the Super Nintendo. Welcome to the world of Gaming Under the Influence, where we introduce you to some craft beers, interesting drink concoctions, and video games that you can turn into drinking games.

Each week we will concentrate on a system and rotate it every week between all consoles and of course PC games. This week we will be discussing some fun things you can do while you have friends over and playing on your Sega Genesis. The Genesis is a fan favorite as you were introduced to many games on it including Primal Rage, Streets of Rage, and Wolverine: Adamantium Rage (plenty of ‘rage’ for this system!)

Week #2 Game- Alcoholic The Hedgehog 2

This requires only 2 players, the Sega Genesis (or updated system that allows you to play the game presently)

  • Rule #1- You must play this game in versus mode.  You will be required to take a drink every time you lose your coins, and you must finish your beer every time you die.  Be careful in Casino Night Zone, gambling can be dangerous (for both your coins and your liver)
  • Rule #2- At the end of each level, the loser must take a drink.
  • Rule #3- During the bonus round at the end of each map, the loser must finish their beer.
  • Rule #4- Repeat until all rounds are completed

Week #2 Concoction- The Bloody Sonic

The drink includes ¾ oz Blue Curacao liqueur, ¾ oz Grenadine syrup, 1 tsp of Bailey’s Irish Cream, and a lemon-lime soda for taste.  You’re going to chill the grenadine and pour the blue Curacao into a champagne flute.  Add the soda to taste.  Pour the grenadine into the glass slowly (allowing it to sink).  Add the Bailey’s with a teaspoon slowly to allow it to float.  It’s a little more complicated this week, but damn is it good!

Week #2 Beer- Blue Moon

Why not choose a beer that is widely available, and delicious in the summer time.  Although it is brewed by the Blue Moon Brewing Company in Golden Colorado, Blue Moon is actually a division of MillerCoors.  With a 5.4% ABV, it’s a little heavier than most beers sold in the United States, and can be dangerous if you’re not paying attention to how much you are drinking.  It pours a nice dark orange color with a very cloudy appearance.  Just one suggestion  from a beer snob to another… NEVER put fruit in your beer.  It tastes just fine without it !

That will do it for this week do it today. We want you to drink responsibly and always have a place to crash or a designated driver if you intend on drinking too much.
