As a fan of both the Lord of the Rings and MOBA games, you would think I would be a bit more enthused about a game set to put the two together, the fact that it is going to be a console game is not helping much. Having a much smaller roster of heroes and being on a platform that offers a lot less precision than I am used to, Guardians of Middle-Earth is off to a rocky start for me from its very first mention. While I have my reservations about the title I’m sure someone will enjoy taking a look at two of the characters you will be able to play as once the game is released. Gollum and Gandalf are two very different characters that fill vastly differing roles:
- Gollum focuses on guerrilla tactics using his fast and strong attacks to deal heavy damage and escape before another champion takes advantage of his squishiness.
- Gandalf, on the other hand, is a more balanced all-round character with his high resistances, team based support powers, and the ability to deal tremendous amounts of damage in a large area.
You can see the characters in action in the video below.
Despite my grumblings, Guardians of Middle-Earth is set to come out this fall on Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network.
