Goal Zero Introduces “You Buy One, We Give One” program for Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Efforts
Posted on November 1, 2012 AT 04:21pm
While Hurricane Sandy has passed, relief efforts for New York and New Jersey residents has only just begun. After the needs of food, water, and safe shelter are met for those displaced by Hurricane Sandy, the next most important issue is restoring power. Today, Goal Zero has introduced the “You Buy One, We Give One” program to aid in the relief efforts.
From now until November 15, Goal Zero will track sales from their online store and participating retailers and match the same amount with donations of portable solar power solutions. These portable solar panels and rechargeable batteries can be used to power cell phones, lights, appliances, and medical devices for those affected by the storm. As a longtime resident of South Florida who has seen his fair share of hurricane devastation, I can honestly say that something as simple as being able to contact family members or having a reliable flashlight at night can do amazing things for a persons morale as they begin to rebuild.
