God of War: Ascension Introduces ‘The Elephantaur’
Posted on August 5, 2012 AT 01:27pm

Continuing their ‘Monsters of Ascension’ series which began with ‘Polyphemus’, Sony Santa Monica has released its second feature entitled ‘The Elephantaur’. ‘Izzy’, the developer’s lead concept artist describes the inspiration and reasoning behind creating this formidable beast. He explains how the origin of the Elephantaur began all the way back when God of War III was being developed and was designed to be a ‘Berserker class Argus monster’, but was later cut from the game. Ever since then, Izzy had wanted to create a mean elephant monster and in God of War: Ascension his vision for the beast was finally realized.
Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has created some of the most breathtaking and menacing monsters ever to appear in a video game. Since releasing the first God of War, they have been remembered and revered for their epic boss fights and first class presentation. With God of War: Ascension being a prequel, it is difficult to understand how they plan to raise the bar after already turning up to eleven with God of War III. The Monsters of Ascension series is helping to prove they can do it.
Check out the entire text interview with Izzy, plus a myriad of beautiful artwork showing the evolution of the Elephantaur here!
God of War: Ascension will be released for the Playstation 3 on March 12th 2013.
