Creator-owned comics is more and more seeming like the way to go, with more big name writers getting in on the action of creating their own license free title. Marvel Comics superstar Jonathan Hickman is now joining some of the other comic book greats to jump in with Image and create a new series (along with the likes of DC Comics’ Grant Morrison and Marvel’s Ed Brubaker). Hickman’s new series, East Of West, is set to debut this March and focuses on a pretty heavy story. Joined by artist Nick Dragotta (whom also worked with Hickman on the Marvel titles Fantastic Four and FF), the series tells a tale of the Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse and the impending disasters that will strike when the world finally comes to an end. The series has already been billed as an ongoing series, and will first hit shelves on March 27th.

Also announced, this time by IDW Publishing, was a brand new collection of the 2000 AD classic Judge Dredd. Judge Dredd: The Complete Brian Bolland will capture some of the most definitive runs of the hit series, featuring some of the biggest and best named the franchise has to offer. The first offering for this incredible project will feature Bolland, as well as Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner. This book is now available for pre-order and is only the first installment featuring the futuristic supercop.
