Image Comics Announces New Series,”I Love Trouble”
Posted on September 24, 2012 AT 06:42pm
Sometimes having a special ability isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In the new Image Comics series I Love Trouble, the team of Kel Symons and Mark Robinson explore the idea of not only having a superpower, but using it as a tool to explore the personality of a character. The book focuses on Felicia Castro, a woman who has very little going well in her life. After being chased out of New Orleans by a mobster, she flees to the Midwest, where a plane crash helps her realize that she can travel a much simpler way: teleportation.
While this ability can come in handy, Felicia seems to use it to continue her old way of life, getting into trouble at every turn, harnessing her power to continue to run from the things that plague her in life.
The ability is supposed to be an afterthought, however. Using it to add to the personality of Felicia was Symons’ idea all along, and one that helped sell Robinson on the title.
“The book is supposed to be more about the person than the power. Kel’s scripts leave me a lot of room to do my thing visually, which I am grateful for.” Robinson stated, on his decision to work on the book.
The series is going to be a new ongoing from Image, with the first issue hitting shelves on December 5th.
