Image Comics News: More Relaunch Fun, Spawn News And Paul Pope!
Posted on December 12, 2012 AT 05:49pm
Image Comics was full of announcements today, as the company sent out several press releases to inform the comics community about more of the great things they’ve been up to. First up is the next in the line of satiric teaser images for new titles coming from Image that feature a very close (and intentional) resemblance to the way Marvel Comics has gone about their Marvel NOW! teaser campaign. In the same style, Image has released an image (that is represented as the feature image to this article) for a series that is only being dubbed “Quite Savage”. With no artist or writer named, the campaign is still fun to see, and a great indication to the sense of humor over at Image, especially when it comes at the expense of one of the Big Two.
Image Also announced today that their partnership with ComiXology is expanding, as The Adventures Of Spawn, the more kid-friendly version of the iconic character, will now be available through the website (and corresponding app). In the style of old Saturday morning cartoons, this series is a great way to introduce a younger generation to the greatness that isSpawn.
The last announcement of the day by the company was the upcoming release of a collection featuring the work of famed artist Paul Pope. Pope, who’s done everything from major comics to manga, is being featured in the to-be released The One Trick Rip-Off/Deep Cuts, a collection of a major story by Pope, touted as a “90′s West Side Story“, and a varied collection of short comics created between 1993 and 2001.
Anyone who’s a fan of the glorious Paul Pope should be interested in this collection, which releases on January 16th.
