Image Comics To Release Star Bright And The Looking Glass This November
Posted on August 1, 2012 AT 06:47pm
From the mind of Jonathan Luna, who last worked with his brother Joshua on The Sword comes a book unlike many others out there in the mainstream comics market. Not exactly a comic, but more of what Luna calls a “fantasy picture book”, Star Bright And The Looking Glass is a major departure from the things Luna has worked on in the past.
“After the conclusion of The Sword, I took a two-year sabbatical, but I was always creating,” Luna mentioned, referring to his break in comics. “I played with photography and film, and I learned how to paint with oil, acrylic, and watercolor. I finally decided I wanted to do a fairy-tale picture book.”
That hiatus wound up spawning Star Bright And The Looking Glass, which tells the tale of Star Bright, a woman, who after discovering her own beauty by way of a mirror in her home in the forest, who discovers the perils of vanity in the process. Her beauty is stolen by a sorceress, and Star Bright is taught a valuable lesson about virtue by way of the woodland creatures she has befriended.
This is the first time Luna has written on his own, and the first creator-owned title since The Sword, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an exciting venture. Stepping out of his usual comfort zone will hopefully prove to be a successful risk. Find out for yourself when Star Bright And The Looking Glass releases this November. It is also available for pre-order in the August issue of Previews.
