Image’s “Skullkickers” Adds A New Adjective, Becomes Even More Awesome
Posted on November 19, 2012 AT 05:15pm
Jim Zub, Edwin Huang and the entire team working on the hit Image Comics series Skullkickers have taken it upon themselves to kick the awesome up a notch by pushing their series into a new, “uncanny” direction. Zub and crew have relaunched their brand, starting a brand new era for the title with the announcement that the next issue will transfer into theUncanny Skullkickers era. Now, this isn’t the first title to use the adjective, but it is the only one to do it while promoting their own brand of insane violence and adventure.
This transition marks the start of the second half of the planned six arcs for the series and is meant to be a great jumping-on point for new readers (though, it can be argued that nearly every issue can boast that, because it’s an awesome series) and includes not one, but two homages (or blatant but hilarious rip-offs) to other major publishers. Not only is the “Uncanny” thing used quite a bit at Marvel to great success, the cover is similar to many DC Comics covers during their “Zero Month”.
Grab the first issue of Uncanny Skullkickers (or Skullkickers #19 depending on which variant cover is purchased) when it goes on sale on February 27th.
