Indie Musician Challenge – The Cover Song

Posted on July 22, 2012 AT 02:34pm

Digital Noob is issuing an open invitation to indie musicians, whether they play video games or not, to submit their music to us! Within the gaming community you hear a lot about indie games. And people love the indie scene! Who doesn’t want to see a small company get the attention they rightfully deserve! But what about indie music? We care about music too and firmly believe you musically inclined types deserve a little bit of love around this part of the web.

What We Do: Twice a month the Indie Musician Challenge will be posted on our site. Within the title of the post will be the guideline for that week’s submission. This week we ask that all interested artists submit their best cover song to Digital Noob! There are no other guidelines, all bets are off. It doesn’t matter if you’re a solo act, a garage band, remixer, folk singer, DJ, or are apart of a label. Anyone can enter music of any genre! Quite simply, we want to hear your music and share it with our readers.
What You Need:
  • MP3 of a song that fits the challenge criteria
  • Link to where the song can be heard by the general public (Youtube, iTunes, etc.)
  • The Lyrics

Once you have that together you are set to send in your submission! Submissions go to:, please put “Indie Musician Challenge” in the subject of your e-mail! Entries for “The Cover Song” challenge will no longer be accepted after July, 29th, 2012. Winner will be posted by August, 5th, 2012.

How Do You Win:  The entries will be narrowed down and voted on by the staff. Our staff has a pretty wide range of musical interests so no submission will go unheard! Once the staff picks a winner, the winner will be contacted and interviewed via e-mail.

What You Get: The winner for that challenge will get an exclusive article written about them to share with friends, family, and fans! As well as fans that they don’t have yet. We will also post the winning track here on Digital Noob, with the permission of the recording artist of course. This gives upcoming musicians a chance for some exposure and gives our readers the chance to hear something new. Remember everyone, it’s the internet, any publicity is good publicity! At the very least, it never hurts to have a favorable article attached to your website or blog. Help spread the word by liking this article on Facebook, sharing it via Twitter, or informing anyone who you think may be interested.
