Minecraft can be a Zen-like experience, a digital Japanese rock garden where monsters hunt you at night, if you will. I’ve lived in many Minecraft worlds, praying the night away in a dark, wet, muddy hole I dug with my bare hands before the sun sets, cueing the nightmarish monsters who seek my blocky blood. I can imagine one’s mind slowly withering into nothing; mining all day, gathering materials, survival by night. And for what? Just to survive and mine more. What is life if it can’t be lived beneath the stars and without violence?
This psychosis affected Reddit user Zillysusa1433 deeply. He’s built a house made almost completely of TNT with an eternal fire burning in the basement beneath the house’s glass foundation and named it ‘Safety House.’
