Kick-Ass 2 Announced
Posted on June 25, 2012 AT 06:21pm
Details are only slowly leaking, but the news is good: there is going to be a sequel to the comic book adaptation Kick-Ass. The sequel, aptly titled Kick-Ass 2, will focus, hopefully, on the comic book sequel of same name. The gory and ridiculous story of Dave, a normal kid who decided to be the now famous superhero Kick-Ass now has some new problems to deal with.
According to director Jeff Wadlow, there are going to be some changes to the film, in relativity to the comic (which always happens, usually to much dismay from fans of the source material). He did have this to say, on the subject:
“I think the most important thing that’s gonna change from the Kick-Ass 2 comic to Kick-Ass 2 the movie was just really finding an emotional story to tell. Because what I certainly loved about the first film, and what I think elevated it above most comic book adaptations, is the heart and the emotion in the film. It was sort of my challenge as the film maker and storyteller to find something as emotional in the second film and I think we have some stuff that people are gonna really respond to.”
That doesn’t sound too promising, as the outlandish violence and action were the main drawing points of the original comic and film. But, with Aaron Johnson, Chloe Mortez and Christopher Mintz-Plasse all set to return to their original roles, this movie could still have a lot of potential. Especially with Moretz, as she was an outstanding Hit-Girl. And with the rumored first act of the sequel focusing mainly on her (based off the spin-off comic, written by series creator Mark Millar), Kick-Ass 2 could be another wild ride.
Keep an eye out for more information about this upcoming film, which is set to start production in September.
