Konami Wins Big at E3

Posted on June 6, 2012 AT 12:37pm

Konami has been well recognized at this year’s E3.  They have won awards and nominations for Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate, and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

  • The Official Playstation Magazine: Received “Most Valuable Game” Award
  • The Official Xbox Magazine: Received “Most Valuable Game” Award
  • Received “Most Valuable Game” Award
  • Nominated for “Best Action/Adventure Game”

This game is set to release in early 2013 for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.  It will follow the cyborg ninja, Raiden, instead of the previous hero, Solid Snake.  Rising is said to be an action game focusing on an advanced cutting system.  This is very different from previous games in the Metal Gear serious which were more focused around stealth.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Mirror of Fate

Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate

  • Nintendo Power: Received “Most Valuable Game” Award

There is no set release date for this title yet, but it is said that it should be available sometime this year.  This sequel to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow will follow two decedents of Gabriel Belmont, the main protagonist of the original.  Trevor Belmont is a knight of The Brotherhood of Light that is set on avenging his mother’s death.  The other main character is Simon Belmont.  Little has been released about Simon’s roll in Mirror of Fate, but the name is the same as the original vampire slayer from Castlevania on the Nintendo Entertainment System.  Konami has announced that Mirror of Fate will be available exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

  • Nominated for “Best E3 Trailer”

This title will be released on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 with no date yet announced.  Lords of Shadow 2 is the official sequel to the original that will feature Gabriel Belmont as well as a mysterious white haired fighter.  Many believe that this person is Alucard, a half-human half-vampire son of Dracula from the game Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
