Manual Mana Tapping & End Step For Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013

Posted on June 1, 2012 AT 06:11pm

Another year and another Magic: the Gathering online game. There still hasn’t been a release date announced for Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, but there is plenty of other news about the game to cheer about.

Have you ever played either of the first two Duels of the Planeswalkers games and get annoyed by not being able to choose what mana is used? A perfect play can be made, but instead the computer chooses the one un-tapped mountain that you need for your next card. This shall be no more. Wizards of the Coast is bringing manual mana tapping into the latest digital version of Magic: the Gathering. Players will now have the option of specifying which lands that they would like to tap. This will be done by highlighting the card in your hand that you wish to play and the default lands that would be tapped to play it. To change lands, though, is a different story.

On Steam: Press the Left Control Button

On Xbox/PS3: Press the Left Thumb-stick

On iPad: Tap the card again

For more information about manual mana tapping, watch this video.

On top of manual mana tapping, Wizards of the Coast has also added the End Step. This one final step, after the main phase, allows players to use instants, search for things and do more before their next turn. End Step is particularly useful to use cards that let you search for a basic land. With End Step, players can do this at the end of their opponent’s turn to have a land ready for their upcoming turn.
