Mediatonic Highlights the Dramatics in Foul Play
Posted on August 25, 2012 AT 09:52am

Perhaps you’ve heard of the London-based gaming company Mediatonic, perhaps you haven’t. Groups like Capcom, Cartoon Network, and Nintendo have, though. That’s because Mediatonic helps to commission games for these bigwigs, as well as create their own masterpieces. Introducing the group’s new gem: Foul Play, a pulpy action game for those who are under the spell of adventure.
Meet Baron Dashforth, a man with a cunning name and nature to match (he also resembles Mr. Monopoly, but that’s beside the point). He is a Victorian-era daemon hunter who is the star of Foul Play. Creative Producer Jeff Tanton promises the game will show Dashforth as a “James Bond crossed with Baron Munchausen…” The premise of the game revolves around the shrewd Dashforth putting on a play to not only wow an audience, but to also take down “daemons” via Xbox LIVE Arcade. The real way to succeed, however, is to give the audience a show they’ll never forget.

If you (yes, you) have ever left your living room and been in an actual play, then you’ll know the dangers of entertaining people. You’ve got to thrill that audience, baby, and you’ve got to do it with grace and, in this case, melee skill.
Giving a game to Xbox LIVE Arcade enhances the character rich game that Mediatonic has produced. Director of Games, Paul Croft, has said the studio is more “focused on creating digital games that are packed full of character and life. We invest a lot of time in building worlds and stories…” Putting these elements into something like Xbox LIVE Arcade enables players to join up together and immerse themselves in the thrilling world that is Foul Play.
Foul Play will available on Xbox LIVE Arcade in 2013.
