Konami has announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will be coming exclusively to Nintendo 3DS in early 2013. They haven’t yet pinned down the exact month, but at least you know that once the snow starts melting, you may find some vampires coming out of hibernation.

Mirror of Fate will cover the story gap between Lords of Shadow 1 and 2, following Gabriel Belmont’s descendants, Simon and Trevor Belmont. So, for those of you that have missed the original wielder of the Vampire Killer, your wait is nearly over.

“It’s been two years since the enormous success of Castlevania Lords of Shadow, and with this next installment, we want to take the necessary time needed to give fans a handheld title unlike any other,” said Dave Cox, Producer of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and Head of Product Planning and Development for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate will bridge the storyline to Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, also planned to release in 2013.  Both titles will reveal the shocking fate of the Belmont Clan in a dramatic culmination of the Lords of Shadow saga.”

I’m personally curious if they will be expanding canon or totally re-envisioning it. I don’t own a Nintendo 3DS yet, but this is one of many titles that are making me consider changing that.
