NBA 2K has been one of the best sport franchises the last few years. The game plays great, looks great, and pretty much resembles the real sport in almost every way. How else could it get better? What could 2K possibly add to an already great franchise? If you answered the NBA All-Star game; then your right!
While revealing the release date of NBA 2K13 in a press release, which will be available October 2, 2012 in North America and October 5th internationally, 2K also announced that fans who pre-order the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of 2K13 will receive the NBA All-Star content package. This add-on will include the NBA All-Star game as well as the Foot Locker Three Point Shootout, BBVA Rising Stars Challenge, and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest (featuring all-new intuitive, pick-up-and-play controls).
“The NBA All-Star package is our way saying ‘thank you’ to fans for their ongoing love of the NBA 2K series,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports. “This content provides a ton of depth and value to our fans, and it’s just the beginning of a lot of big news about NBA® 2K13.”
Another interesting tidbit from this press release is that while NBA 2K13 will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, PSP (No Vita?), Wii, and PC; a Wii U version of the game will be also available within the consoles launch window later this holiday season.
With E3 just around the corner there is surely going to be plenty of announcements coming from 2K Sports, especially in regards to the Wii U. I already imagined how Madden would work on the console but I never thought about NBA. Maybe we’ll be able to create-a-play on the fly using the Wii U’s main controller? Well find out soon enough.
