New Crysis 3 CryENGINE 3 Tech Demo Shows Us the Future Now
Posted on August 9, 2012 AT 05:20pm

When it comes to modern game engines, there are a few to choose from, some more popular than others. Hands down the most popular would have to be the Unreal Engine, which has ruled the world of gaming since it came out in 1998. Creative developers have used it from everything from First Person Shooter games to RPGs and it has even been used in children’s television shows when 3D renders were being used. The fine team at Crytek is looking to change all of that with their latest iteration of the Crysis engine, the CryENGINE 3. It is the game engine being used for Crysis 3.
If anything should be measured as a gold standard, it should be the Crysis games for just how amazing they look. Even for gamers not using a top-of-the-line gaming rig and just playing a game on Xbox 360 or PS3, this engine is promising next-gen visuals now, looking to push the limits of what we know about how games should look. This video that was released today is a tech demo of the new engine and shows off some of the cooler features of the engine and why moving forward we might see more and more games being made using it.
