In case you didn’t get enough of the Waste Management Phoenix Open yesterday, the latest iteration of PGA Tour will be more authentic than ever. EA Sports’ newest golf game Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 will receive a wide array of new features for its upcoming release. It may even “blur the lines between real life and virtual golf,” which means if you do play this, exercise extreme caution lest you begin to think of yourself as an actual golfer. Unless you are an actual golfer, of course. Then by all means, continue being an actual golfer.
For those of us who wish we were around in the late 1800s to golf, then dream no longer. PGA Tour 14 features a time traveling machine (not really) that allows players to experience what golf was like back then with retro golf clubs (like jiggers and niblicks) and authentic ball physics (!) from the era.
The presentation of the game has also undergone massive reconstruction, and is modeled to feel more like a televised event. After each round, you’ll see how poorly you did compared with what Phil Mickelson probably would have done via detailed performance statistics. And if you like lots of different camera angles, then you’ll love that PGA Tour 14 will have over 3,300 camera shots. Maybe there will be an achievement for viewing them all.
If you have a favorite golfer, chances are you’ll be able to pick a style similar to him. There will be 24 unique swing styles included that emulate pro golfers. And if you are a pro golfer, then congratulations! You can just be yourself.
Also good for the pro golfer is another difficulty setting. Simulation difficulty removes every helpful part of the interface, such as the swing meter or zoom to aim. If this doesn’t get you to throw a controller through the window, I don’t know what will.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 is scheduled to be released on March 26, 2013 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
