Thankfully, Microsoft does not push out firmware updates nearly as much as Sony does for the PlayStation 3. Instead of having to update every time you want to watch Netflix for small fixes, Microsoft bundles their tiny updates into one big one maybe twice a year.
While they’ve been running a beta for weeks, Microsoft has officially begun rolling out the newest update to the Xbox 360. On top of general revisions, allowing people to pin items, use Internet Explorer, and reorganize things, the update includes Xbox Music, the beginning of Microsoft acknowledging “Xbox” as their catch-all entertainment tag.
The update will not be available for everyone all at once, due to server limitations. How can you check if you’re ready to update? Just turn on your 360. When it connects to Live, it’ll tell you if you’re ready.
