That’s a lot of coins!

Today Nintendo reported that players of New Super Mario Bros 2 around the world have collectively amassed 300 billion coins and counting. To celebrate this feat, 6 new Coin Rush Levels are available on the eShop for free.The levels are part of a DLC pack called Gold Rush Classics and the levels are inspired by classic Mario games Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Bros 2. The level pack is free now, but starting February 1, 2013, it will cost $2.50.

“Nintendo fans have once again demonstrated their passion for the Super Mario Bros. franchise,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The Gold Classics Pack is just one small way for us to thank players for their dedication. We’re all eager to see just how high that coin tally can get.”
