Zen Studios has been great, so far, at releasing high quality tables for their pinball game, Pinball FX 2. This time, the publisher has released a pack of tables for the science fiction classic, Star Wars. With three tables based on the legendary franchise, this pack has everything a fan could want in a table add-on, including a table for Star Wars: Episode V, one based on the popular Boba Fett character, and one that takes place between Episodes II and III, for the animated series The Clone Wars. All three tables all have their own special events and characters, including Darth Vader, his younger self, Anakin Skywalker, Luke Skywalker, Fett and others.
The Episode V table features Luke and his rival, Darth Vader. While this table is pretty simplistic in design, it’s the most gratifying of the three tables. Spelling out the word “Vader” launches the Vader Frenzy, which causes him to destroy every ball hit in his direction, and many times throughout the table, an ion cannon event will trigger, placing the ball on one side of the table or another. There are all the classic lights and sounds, events that trigger scenes from the film itself, traveling through hyperspace, and flying to other planets to relive scenes from the movie.
The second table, based on The Clone Wars, has numerous events based on the series, and features Anakin Skywalker and his apprentice Ahsoka Tano, as they move onto missions throughout the table. Spelling “Clone Wars” will trigger these missions, creating a whole new way to play this table. This table is a bit less gratifying, however, with the animated series not quite hitting home as much as the others.
The Boba Fett table is the final table of the pack, and it’s also one of the most complicated. While Fett is one of the greatest characters in the Star Wars franchise, this table is what really shines, featuring missions, weapons, and all sorts of talk from Fett himself. Taking bounties from the Hutts and the Galactic Empire, relive some of Fett’s greatest, including the iconic capture of Han Solo.
Each table is varied and unique with tons of events and animations for fans to enjoy. With all the iconic characters, epic events, and legendary missions, there is very little to miss out on from this first pack of tables. The only thing missing was Han Solo, a visual representation of Yoda, and a few more icons from the historic franchise.
