Now these are the stories I love hearing about; after failing to meet their “kick-finish” goal on Kickstarter, independent developer Dark Vale is still going strong. For many devs the failure of their campaign would have been a major setback that could push them to give in to publisher demands or just give up. Dark Vale on the other hand is going to keep at it, still keeping to their plan to release Forge later this year.
To make that happen they still need some help and the best way you can do that now is to pre-order Forge directly from their site. Those that back the game early on get several benefits such as getting Alpha and Beta access. Gamers who also pre-order the game before next Monday will be able to receive the game for 25% off, after this weekend the price returns to the standard $20 per copy. The full list of bonuses and prices are listed below for your viewing pleasure.
- STARTER [$15 USD]: Receive a full release copy of the game; gain immediate access to play in the early Private Alpha; earn inclusion into the Closed Beta coming in September; and receive an in-game “Founder’s Title” to recognize the contribution to FORGE and Independent game development.
- VETERAN [$30 USD]: Includes all items from in the “Starter” package, plus an exclusive skin for all five starter classes as well as a year’s worth ofFORGE downloadable content – including new classes, new skins, new maps and more — FREE.
- ULTIMATE [$60 USD]: Includes all items from the Veteran package plus never pay for any downloadable content in the future – the Ultimate package is a lifetime pass to future content updates for FREE.
- 4 PAK [$60 USD]: Receive a full release copy of the game; gain immediate access to play in the early Private Alpha; earn inclusion in the Closed Beta coming in September; receive the in-game “Founder’s Title” to recognize the contribution to FORGE and independent game development; receive the exclusive skins for all five starter classes; and get three extra copies of the game when it releases for retail.
And just because you love the folks over at Dark Vale games, you can also drop by their Steam Greenlight page and help them make it on to Steam in the next wave of acceptances. I’m always up for seeing games that aren’t free-to-play or mods make it onto the platform.
