The Family Ties pack for Orcs Must Die! 2 gives you more reasons to revisit the excellent Orcs Must Die! 2 – this $4.99 “booster pack” offers new weapons, new enemies, a new trinket, and new outfits. At $4.99, does this pack give you enough bang for your buck?
What’s weird about a booster pack is that while you may feel like you’re buying things to make you stronger, you’re also spending money to make the game even tougher. The new enemies are absolutely brutal, especially the Ball and Chain, a towering female orc with a humongous mace. Mix this enemy with the new Hobgoblin Healers and you’re going to have a hell of a time bringing one of these down. Fortunately, you’re given a few new weapons as well – a Stone Staff, that unleashes an area attack, as well as a Teleportation Ring that will get you from point A to point B in a short amount of time.
Three new maps are also included in this booster pack, along with three new Endless Mode conversions as well. If you break it down as far as what’s offered, that’s six levels to experience. Add in new skull definitions to enhance your upgrades and give you new ways to play, and you get a remarkable amount of content that is applied to the entire overall game for a low price. However, if Orcs Must Die! 2 never clicked with you, this booster pack will not salvage the game.
Orcs Must Die! 2 is an excellent game, and these booster packs bring out the best in the title. Highly recommended for fans of Orcs Must Die! 2, and if you haven’t played it, I encourage you to make the effort.
- THE GOOD: $4.99 for a lot of content that is applied throughout the game
- THE BAD: New enemy types will raise your internal stress level
- THE UGLY: I believe there is boob physics on the Ball & Chain
