Ubisoft has announced they are releasing a “Bass Expansion” for Rocksmith on August 14th for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The expansion will set you back $29.99 but that isn’t bad when you consider what you get.

All of the 53 songs on the games disc that feature bass will be automatically updated as well as any DLC you might have purchased. You’ll be able to improve your bass plucking skills by learning slapping, 2-finger plucking, and popping with dedicated bass technique challenges, mini-games, and tutorial videos. You will even be able to use a 6-string guitar to mimic a 4-string bass. The bass progression will be tracked completely separately from the guitar progression.
