SDCC: Marvel Announces New Deadpool Game
Posted on July 14, 2012 AT 03:37pm
The countdown is over at the Marvel stand at San Diego Comic Con, and they’ve just announced a new Deadpool game.
The game will be developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision, and it has the minimalist title Deadpool. High Moon Studios have already managed the nearly impossible task of creating credible licensed games with the Transformers series, so Deadpool is most likely in good hands.
It’s pretty exciting news, as a Deadpool game (if made right) is rife with potential. If there’s one thing videogames do well, it’s senseless violence, and senseless violence suits the Merc with a Mouth just fine. Deadpool has already done well in Marvel vs Capcom 3, so it’ll be even better to see him as the star of his own split-personality show. There’s a trailer below, and it features over-the-top violence, fourth-wall breaking, and crude, hilarious (and somewhat unbalanced) dialogue from Deadpool. If this is any indication of the chaotic and cartoonish mayhem the finished product will include, I think we have something memorable to look forward to.
The game is set for a 2013 release and there are no details yet of platforms.
