The highly anticipated trailer for the Sam Raimi prequel to The Wizard of Oz was debuted at San Diego Comic Con today. This first trailer for Oz The Great And Powerful did not disappoint. In all honesty, this author has been shocked at the criticism this movie has received even from just the appearance of the movie poster.

The story begins when a dubious small-time circus magician, Oscar Diggs, is magically transported from Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz. Feeling as though he hit the jackpot, he is of the impression that fame and fortune are his to be taken until he meets three witches. Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda (Michelle Williams) are not all convinced that he is the great wizard that is expected. Oscar is reluctantly drawn into the problems of the Land of Oz, and must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late.

The appearance of flying monkeys and green skin can only mean one thing. Unfortunately, it won’t have the Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion or the ruby slippers.

Oz The Great And Powerful will be released on March 8, 2013.
