SDCC: SEGA Pulls Out All Stops For San Diego
Posted on July 12, 2012 AT 12:10am
After a success during last year’s convention, SEGA is, yet again, joining the festivities for San Diego Comic Con. The company will be setting up in downtown San Diego to showcase their biggest and most anticipated titles at the SEGA Arcade. Games to be featured include Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Aliens: Colonial Marines.
Internationally acclaimed concept designer and visual futurist, Syd Mead, will be on hand to sign limited prints of his concept art of the USS Sulaco, which was featured in the movie Aliens as well as in the upcoming game, Aliens: Colonial Marines. This will take place on Friday, July 13 from 3 to 6 pm at the SEGA Arcade. Additionally, Dark Horse and Sega of America, Inc. are offering an exclusive and free Aliens: Colonial Marines comic that will only be available during SDCC. To claim a comic, visit the SEGA Arcade in downtown San Diego or booth #2615.
A special surprise is the display of Danica Patrick’s custom No. 7 Sonic the Hedgehog/GoDaddy.com Chevrolet at the SEGA Arcade. The JR Motorsports-sponsored NASCAR superstar will race this particular car in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge on November 3 at the Texas Motor Speedway. This race will mark Sonic’s debut on a NASCAR sanctioned track.
Sonic fans will be able to get their fix at this year’s Sonic Boom event. With the success of last year’s E3 Sonic Boom event, SEGA decided to bring it to SDCC. It will be held on Friday July 13 from 5 to 10 pm at the House of Blues. Notable guests include Crush 40, Alex and JP Makhlouf from Cash Cash, Takashi Iizuka from Sonic Team, and Steve Lycett from Sumo Digital (the developer of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed). Tickets for this event can be purchased via Ticketmaster.
The Sega Arcade is located at 200 Harbor Drive, Suite 120 in San Diego, California 92101. Its hours of operation are as follows:
- Wednesday 7:00pm – 10:00 pm
- Thursday 1:00pm – 9:00pm
- Friday 1:00pm – 9:00pm
- Saturday 1:00pm – 9:00pm
- Sunday 11:00am – 7:00pm
