Skylanders has a trick up it’s proverbial sleeve. Not only are fans of the franchise getting a new game and new figures but these figures are taking Skylanders in a whole new direction. The Skylanders Swap Force heroes will have new abilities like digging, jumping, climbing, flying and more. That is not all. The new figures will have interchangeable upper and lower halves. Players will be able to customize their own Skylanders by mixing and matching pieces.

There is a downside to all this awesomeness, the previous Portals will not work so a new Portal, compatible with the new Skylanders, will have to be purchased. However, the previous Skylanders figures will be compatible with the new Swap Force game. There will be 16 new characters, 16 fan-favorite characters that will get a makeover with “Wow Pow” upgrade, 8 new LightCore characters, and 16 new Swap Force characters coming. That is a ton of choices for collecting and gaming.

Skylanders Swap Force will be released on Wii, 3DS, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U sometime in the Fall 2013.
