Skyrim 1.7 Patch Makes Its Way to PS3 and Xbox 360 Tomorrow

Posted on August 8, 2012 AT 01:32pm

Skyrim Mounted Combat

If you are one of the many people who opted to purchase Bethesda’s first person RPG, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, for your game console over the PC, you are in luck. I say that because the 1.7 patch which has been available on the PC for a while now will make its way to your home console of choice, Xbox 360 or PS3, starting tomorrow. If you are a PS3 user, you are in double luck, depending on how you look at it, as the 1.6 patch which has been available for both PC and Xbox 360 for even longer now will finally make its way to Sony’s slender black box.

There are a few important updates included in the 1.7 patch, including a few bugs that were freezing or crashing the game and some general stability issues. If there is one thing a Skyrim player knows of, it is how after a few hours things can begin to stutter a little bit, or that misty loading screen will be on your screen for what feels like forever. You know the one, the one without any sort of monster or relic to spin around anxiously with the analog sticks while you wait for the Black Briar Meadery to load up so that you can interrogate the poor guy behind the counter to improve your speech.

Changes for 1.7 are below.

  • General memory and stability optimizations
  • Fixed crash related to new water shaders
  • Fixed rare crash related to dragon landings
  • Xbox 360 – Fixed logic error with loading screens from add-ons
  • Using vampiric grip and swimming no longer prevents swimming animation from playing afterwards
  • Xbox 360 – Improved recognition with Kinect voice commands
  • Xbox 360 – Kinect-enabled dragon language shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish work properly
  • Xbox 360 – Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish
  • Xbox 360 – Fixed issue with Dawnguard Kinect-enabled dragon shouts for French, German, Italian and Spanish

If you are one of the few, the somewhat proud, the PS3 users, included below are the bug fixes from the 1.6 patch. Oh, and mounted combat is added as well, so horses have some actual value when you ride headlong into a group of bloodthirsty bandits, so you don’t have to hop off, shout and turn your horse into an enemy.

  • General stability and memory optimizations
  • General AI pathfinding optimizations and bug fixes
  • Optimizations and crash fixes for data leaks
  • Fixed rare crash with lighting
  • Fixed crashes related to loading and saving games
  • Fixed crash with summoned creatures/NPCs
  • Fixed rare issue where saves would be corrupted
  • Improved logic for when ranged kill cams are played
  • Fixed issue with ranged kill cams while killing a dragon
  • Fixed rare issue with certain ranged kill cams not playing properly
  • Fixed issue with nirnroot lighting not properly cleaning up
  • Fixed issue where bow damage was being calculated incorrectly
  • Fixed rare problem with werewolf kill moves would not finish animating properly
  • Fixed occasional issue where followers would disappear after player pays off a bounty after committing a crime
  • Fixed issue where certain creatures and NPCs would fail to respawn properly
  • Fixed rare issue with dialogue subtitles not displaying properly
  • Fixed issue with water appearing blurry when loading a saved game after creating a save underwater
