Spellbound Entertainment Has Returned, As Black Forest Games
Posted on July 13, 2012 AT 01:39pm
In March of 2012, Spellbound Entertainment, the makers of Arcania and Giana Sisters DS, filed for insolvency, due to a pending investment falling through in its final stages. The company continued to pay its 65 employees however, and were confident that they would rebound from the fall.
Their confidence was rightly placed, because as of today, July 13, in Offenburg, Germany, Black Forest Games was announced. Of the original 65 employees, 40 chose to stay with the reformed company, including key members from the management and creative teams. The CEO of the reformed company is Andreas Speer, the CFO/COO is Adrian Goersch, and the Creative Director is Jean-Marc Haessig.
“Black Forest Games will add to the legacy of Spellbound Entertainment, by empowering the core of the team to build an even greater company that is tuned to today’s market opportunities,” said Andreas Speer. ”With the talent and IP we have internally, we know we’ll again be recognized as a leader in the creation of games for the RPG and strategy genres.”
It’s always very sad to hear about a studio dedicated to making good games going under. Hopefully Black Forest will be able to pick up where Spellbound left off, and accomplish their goals.
Black Forest Games will be focused on developing high-quality Role-Playing and Strategy games for all major consoles, PC, and Macintosh computers.
