Stan Lee And 1821 Comics Set World Record For Largest Graphic Novel
Posted on June 21, 2012 AT 09:16pm
Further proof that Stan Lee is an all around awesome person, especially in the comic book world, was the announcement that he, 1821 Comics, and POW! Entertainment now own the Guinness World Record for the largest graphic novel in history. The record setting book, Romeo And Juliet: The War, is a scaled up version of the original, and was presented at an event to celebrate the record for the New York Times bestseller.
The event, which featured a silent auction, gave proceeds from the auction to the John Wayne Cancer Institute. The award for the record was given to Lee and 1821 founder Terry Dougas by Punisher star Thomas Jane. Romeo And Juliet: The War, is an in demand coffee table book, with the new giant edition standing at a mammoth 25 inches tall, 33 inches wide, and 2 inches thick.
The re-imagining of the classic William Shakespeare story takes the original characters and places them in a science fiction/fantasy setting in the Empire Of Verona, with the Capulets, genetically enhanced humans known for speed and agility, and the Montagues, who are cyborgs with artificial DNA working together to destroy all threats to their empire. When the threats are vanquished, they turn against one another.
This massive book is available in retails stores, and is constantly in demand. Congratulations to Lee, Terry Douglas, and everyone involved with the book for their terrific achievement.
