Stan Lee has been a very busy man. At ninety years young, this is the man who steered the creation of the Marvel Comics universe as it’s known today, inventing, along with partner Jack Kirby, many of the most popular heroes on the planet. Stan and his company POW! Entertainment have embarked on a brand new journey, teaming up with longtime partner 1821 Comics to create a brand new label aimed towards kids.
Stan Lee’s Kids Universe is a child-oriented entertainment label that will feature titles in a long line of books, animated series, games and more. To celebrate this exciting new era for Stan “The Man” himself, many media outlets (including DigitalNoob) were asked to come and see the launch of Stan Lee’s Kids Universe in person as the new company unveiled their first title, the incredibly adorable book by Dani Jones, Monsters Vs. Kittens.
Accompanied by actress Jamie Pressly (serving as guest host) and Co-Creator/CEO of 1821 Comics Terry Dougas, Stan sat down with several members of the media to answer some questions about the company, the new titles, and the reason for starting a brand new universe just for kids. Below is an interview that Stan, Terry and Jamie held with us at DigitalNoob, as well as a few other accompanying outlets.
When asked about why the company was formed, 1821 CEO and co-founder Terry Dougas had this to say:
“The Stan Lee’s Kids Universe brand at its core is both fun and educational and our mission is to also support childhood literacy and arts education. It was an absolute delight to see Stan having a great time and interacting with the kids this past weekend. It was also rewarding to see the reaction that the kids are having to our new characters.”
The company, founded by Lee, Dougas, 1821 co-founder Paris Kasidokostas Latsis and POW! Entertainment COO Gill Champion will continue to release a plethora of books, graphic novels, games and much more as time goes on. Monsters Vs. Kittens and the second title for the company, the iOS title Goobiez, are both available now, with the book available on A Story Before Bed’s website, and Goobiez is available through iTunes.
After the interviews and a brief break, Pressly introduced the next portion of the event: a reading of Jones’ flagship title, Monsters Vs. Kittens to a captive audience of parents, children and the media. The kids really seemed to enjoy the title, even going as far as to interact with Lee as he read the book aloud.
Thanks to Jamie, Stan, Terry and everyone involved with this terrific event, as well as everyone working with Stan Lee’s Kids Universe for hosting this event and coming up with an innovative and fun way to entertain and educate children. With many more to come, this will likely not be the last the world hears of Stan Lee’s Kids Universe.
