Support EA’s HONOR Initiative Through Map Pack Purchase

Posted on September 10, 2012 AT 12:36pm

EA and Sony Pictures are teaming up to generate some cash for the Project HONOR charity through an interesting cross-promotion.

With Medal of Honor Warfighter hitting store shelves in October and the Osama Bin Laden inspired movie Zero Dark Thirty coming to theaters in December, it provided the perfect opportunity to generate some DLC sales while giving back to the military at the same time. EA will be releasing the Zero Dark Thirty map pack in December in conjunction with the movie’s release. For every map pack they sell, they will donate $1 to the Project HONOR charity, up to a total of $1 million. Project HONOR is a program created to drive charitable contributions to nonprofit veterans organizations. The map pack will go on sale for $9.99 the week of December 17th, the same day the Zero Dark Thirty movie is released.

The map map will include:
Two multiplayer maps inspired by real world locations. Set in one of the most dangerous hotspots in the world, the first map is Darra Gun Market, Pakistan’s flourishing arms bazaar. Darra, the largest illegal arms market in the world, is a tribal land based on two principles – hospitality and revenge. No police are allowed to enter the area and the laws are made by the tribal leader. The second location is Chitral, which sits in the far north of Pakistan, bounded by Afghanistan to the west and China to the north. It is a remote, rugged area governed by tribes that will not allow even the Pakistani army to operate there.
“Working with Project HONOR is a meaningful way for us to continue our support for combat veterans throughout the armed services,” said Mark Boal, writer-producer of Zero Dark Thirty. “We are thrilled to be a part of this effort, and we’re humbled that EA is stepping up to the plate with such a significant contribution.”
Medal of Honor Warfighter was written by actual Tier 1 Operators and if you played the previous Medal of Honor title, you know how special that makes the game. It provides a gritty realism that has not been captured by other military titles. If you preorder Medal of Honor Warfighter, you will get an automatic upgrade to the Limited Edition. Limited Edition owners will get the Zero Dark Thirty map pack for free when the pack is launched in North America.
