Today is a big day for fans of wallcrawlers and webheads! Beenox and Activision have unleashed The Amazing Spider-Man to retail in North America today, available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, 3DS, and DS systems (Europe gets the game on June 29th). The game’s plot takes place after the events of the movie of the same name, and introduces gamers to the new Web Rush game mechanic, allowing complete immersion into Spider-Man’s powers and abilities. Manhattan itself looks to be the biggest character in the game, as it can be explored in an open-world format. David Oxford, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Activision Publishing, Inc, had this to say about the game:
“Dee Brown and his team at Beenox have completely revamped The Amazing Spider-Man‘s proprietary game engine to deliver a fresh, innovative gameplay experience for the fans. With the adrenaline rush from just swinging through the city and the new zoomed-in camera angle opening up a whole new perspective in realistic detail, The Amazing Spider-Man allows gamers to BE Spider-Man like never before.”
Spidey will face villains such as Scorpion, Felicia Hardy, Rhino, Iguana and more. Who’s picking this one up? Check out the launch trailer below!
