Target Dumps Remaining Kindles Into the Clearance Bin

Posted on July 25, 2012 AT 03:52am

You’ve likely heard by now that Target is in the process of removing all forms of the Amazon Kindle from their shelves. I thought that this would entail them returning all of their Kindle stock directly to Amazon. This is not so!

I was at my local Target yesterday, and found two lonely looking Kindles in the electronics clearance bin. Both were the basic $79 model, marked down to $55.30. As that the only form of Kindle I owned was the program on my phone, I grabbed the deal without a second thought. I didn’t, however, grab the also deeply price-cut leather Kindle case; I’m not too keen on spending over 1/3 of the price of the device on something that would make it look, essentially, like a REALLY BIG WALLET. If it would make it look like a pretty, leatherbound book, perhaps I might’ve been interested. Gads, I am that much of a gadget snob? [Reality check: $20 for a clearance priced case is still too expensive!]

Anyhow, if there are basic Kindles crying in the bins, there are likely Kindle Fires sobbing their little batteries out along with them. I recommend you hurry, because if my local Target’s supply was any hint as to what to expect, there are probably very few Amazon products left in those bins!

Bryan Todd [aka DieselBT] -- This is where I'm supposed to say something clever about myself. Let's pretend I did, and it conveniently mentions all of my top interests, such as anime, video games, crazy gadgets, electronic music, voice acting, sound editing, and countless other ridiculously fascinating topics. I also like to write stuff about things, which is why I'm here.

...That, and I like your shirt.
