Tell a Tale, Win Advanced D&D: Unearthed Arcana Reprint

The innkeep grunts, chuckling at your attempt to spur him into a conversation, his dark eyes looking over your run of the mill gear and barely any coin in your pocket. He knows what you are, and shakes his head. The half giant leans down, bending nearly completely over in order to rest his elbows on his bar. “Bards tell the tale of many who came from humble beginnings, mysterious pasts, or just the average person whom Fate played a trick on. Many fall trying to obtain glory, but those who succeed, their legends are sung for ages on the lips of bards across the planes!” He nods his head a few times, watching you eyes light up, seeing that he’s hooked your attention. “Now tell me, what will the bards sing of you?”

Anyone who knows anything about Dungeons & Dragons knows that a player puts time and effort into creating a character that is unique, filled with flaws and perks to make them come alive and seem as real as possible. This, of course, includes a backstory and why you’re suddenly adventuring for the lost treasure of some dead god or simply looking to help a town out with their troll problem. As a player who has been playing for many years (THAC0 ring a bell?), coming up with said story can be hard, but also the challenge. Now, we DMs of DigitalNoob want to hear your character’s backstory and, yes, there is a reward. Five shining spectacles of adventuring will be chosen if they can craft a mighty story that will win over the hearts of your dungeon master with a copy of the new Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Unearthed Arcana reprints. Want more details? Keep on reading.

  • Entries must contain everything that makes up a character including: name, race, class, general description (eye color, hair color, height, weight/body type, appearance, armor/clothing) Note: Any of this information can come any Dungeons & Dragons book/world, or Pathfinder
  • The most important about this character is that you need a good, strong backstory. Tell us where they came from, how life for them growing up was, and why they took the first steps to adventuring. Note: Munchkins need not apply!
  • Contestants are limited to those with a U.S. address (sorry!)
  • Contest starts 12:00am EST February 26th and runs until 11:59pm EST March 9th. Winners will be announced on March 10th.
  • All entries must be emailed to your reigning Dungeon Master at GamingMistress@DigitalNoob.com with the subject “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Entry”. This way, no one can steal your idea in the comments below! Include all the information above along with your full name, address, and Twitter name.
  • Like us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to day with more contests, reviews, and news. (Optional)

From those that enter, the staff will be looking over all of them, and pick our favorite five. Those who win will be announced on Sunday, March 10th and contacted via email and/or Twitter. Have fun, good luck, and good hunting!

As a gamer for life, I've watched many things come and go. My controller has changed color and shape many times, along with my console. A fan of action RPGs and the like, I'm always willing to give a good game the chance to impress me. || Editor-In-Chief || @GamingMistress || GamingMistress@DigitalNoob.com
