Tencent Boston has unveiled the first original production from its game development group Stomp Games. A science fiction browser RPG, Robot Rising, will be initially available on Facebook. The game boasts premium gameplay and full 3D graphics.
Robot Rising centers around fast-paced combat, with hundreds of different levels. Players will take on the role of a new Artificial Intelligence species, gathering resources (like gear and treasure), build and expand their base, and engage in combat to defeat their mechanical enemies.
Michael Fitch, Executive Producer at Tencent Boston, had this to say: “Games on Facebook have a vast audience, but the production quality has yet to catch up with the best that the game industry produces on other platforms. Full 3D in the browser is a reality, and with core gamers’ never ending appetite for great games we have broken the standards of browser game development to produce a gorgeous 3D experience with all the action, sophistication and activity found on the console and PC.”
Robot Rising is in closed beta and expected to be released later this year.
