Terraria To Find New Digs On PSN & XBL
Posted on September 13, 2012 AT 05:45am
Hordes of Creeper killers got their dig on when Mojang and 4J Studios brought Minecraft to Xbox Live Arcade in May. Now, Re-Logic and 505 Studios are working on bringing to us Terraria to both Xbox Live and Playstation Network. For those of you own PSN that have wanted to dig, fight, build, and explore… Early next year, you’ll have the chance in glorious retro-styled 2D!
Generally speaking, Terraria is–on its surface–Minecraft as a side-scroller. I have it on Steam, myself, and I’ve played the heck out of it! It is, just like its voxel-based cousin, absurdly addictive.
From the press release:
With a vast array of materials and items to collect, Terraria is far more than a mere block building game, gamers experience is limited only by their own imaginations; the world really is yours to shape and explore.
“The block-building genre has taken the world by storm and Terraria has garnered a massive following through its increased focus on adventure and discovery.” said Tim Woodley, Head of Global Brand for 505 Games. “We’re looking forward to bringing an already hugely successful experience to a brand new console audience and we can’t wait for the existing Terraria fan base to experience all-new content”.
Andrew Spinks, creator of Terraria added “I can’t say how excited I am to finally have Terraria come to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3! To see it come so far is a complete shock, especially after such humble beginnings. It’s always been my dream to have as many people as possible know and enjoy Terraria as much as I have, and this is another big step in that direction! It’s been awesome working with 505 Games, and I can’t wait for everyone to see the additional features that they’ve been able to bring to this new edition of the game.”
Aside from being majorly fun to play, the graphics are ridiculously charming:
As soon as more firm release date than ‘Early 2013′ is announced, you can be sure we’ll let you know!
