The First 10 to Cross the Finish Line
Posted on September 12, 2012 AT 04:45am
To hell with 100% necessary positive ratings, the first 10 games of steam greenlight are going green folks with none of them even meeting the halfway mark. So what does that mean for the rest of the folks over on greenlight? Nothing really, the process for getting onto steam is still completely in Valve’s hands and until we see someone actually get 100% the standards for Greenlight are still incredibly vague.
However, none of you are here to listen to me complain about the blackvoid that is our knowledge of steam greenlight, you are all here to find out what those 10 games that made it are. Well, here we go, the first 10 titles coming to Steam from Greenlight are:
- Black Mesa
- Cry of Fear
- Dream
- Heroes & Generals
- Kenshi
- McPixel
- No More Room in Hell
- Project Zomboid
- Routine
- Towns
So, a game with logic that has a tendency to cause people to run to the nearest insane asylum, a half-life mod, a pair of first person horror games, a pair of zombie game, and a couple of unexpected ones. Honestly, the list here doesn’t fill me with much hope for the popularity contest vote system as the majority of these are free to play or mods of half-life. The ones that aren’t in the previous two categories give me a little hope for creativity to shine through on Greenlight, potentially bringing back genres that haven’t seen much love in recent years back to the fore. Am I just a little hopeful, damn right I am but that doesn’t mean I’m not going to be critical of valve as we go.
