The Secret World is Bruised But Still Fighting Hard
Posted on August 31, 2012 AT 12:30pm

You have to give Ragnar and the rest of the guys at Funcom some credit; they’re both optimistic and tenacious after these last few weeks of less than stellar results. “We’re going to keep doing what we’re good at. We’ll continue to push the boundaries, and we’ll keep reinventing the wheel (quite literally). Five years ago, we set out to revolutionise the genre, and the revolution has just begun,” Ragnar said in the latest State of the Game.
Along with that hopeful message for fans of “The Secret World,” this latest State of the Game also outlines what the future will be and its starting to look good. I’ll start off with the bad news first; issue #2 “Digging Deep” has been delayed due to the restructuring at Funcom, however, issue #3 will be on time. The main highlight for the coming months is the inclusion of a new 10-person raid set in New York City coming in October which Ragnar claims “is not like any raid you have ever played before.” More weapons, missions, environments, and customization options are also coming down the pipeline with every issue but the Christmas update will have an extra twist to it. Funcom intends to actually reward players getting achievements as can be seen by this fun little quote; “gives a lot more meaning to the usual ‘Kill 1,000 Vampires’ goals. (After all, who hasn’t wondered what it would be like to have some vampiric abilities to play around with?)”
So despite all the problems Funcom has had so far with The Secret world they appear to still be going strong. I do hope their monthly update schedule and optimism helps to turn this slump around as they have one really interesting and fun game on their hands. Don’t believe me?
